No, it's rubbish and I don't know what Jim was thinking.

The Cable Guy nearly ruined Jim Carrey's career. Just my two cents

lol..........we know it didn't do as well as it should have.....and the critics were mixed............but it didn't 'nearly ruin his career'............it was the huge paycheck that doomed it............people wanted it to fail......

p.s welcome to the site........

some could make the same arguement with Jim doing serious roles. but really when Cable Guy came out, he already established himself in a secure spot in the "Hollywood Juggernut" list. so i don't think that it is true....but it did make a good joke on the Simpsons. lol

The thing I liked best about the movie was its message and its unpredictability. Maybe people wanted him to be Ace Ventura in this role, instead, he conjured up a dark, depressed, eccentric and oddly believable
Cable Guy.

This character bounced beautifully against Ferris Beuller. I can tell that Jim has seen the edge of the insanity precipice...it just smelled to high heaven of an understanding.

I think actors have it tough sometimes. Your name may bring in the crowds...but they come with a preconception. They aren't ready to see you with the light out of your eyes, playing a role that is complex and sinister...but with a backstory.

The "kill the babysitter" line had me practically with my fist in the air, but sad that he dies.

It's been a long time. I thought he was impaled by the thing in the satellite dish.

I like the bit where he's just landed on the dish, he looks over and sees how close he was to the spike!
