To be honest, I'm still waiting for this one. It would be great!

I concur steve. If pulled off, it could be special, but the problem lies in the difficulty in pulling it off. In other words, it could end up awesome or terrible. I think that if Jim does want to do this, this he's doing other movies first in order restore some credibility in his career.

*of course, I'm not so sure that Jim thinks through that much.

it will be interesting to see how 'rock of ages' does......if it does badly i'd imagine it might be shelved........the studios a being very cautious these days....

Variety mentioned the movie today in an article.

Also on the front burner is New Line's "Damn Yankees," with "Joyful Noise" helmer Todd Graff on board to direct and Jim Carrey and Jake Gyllenhaal attached to star.

"It looks promising," says Graff of the project, which is being produced by the "Hairspray" team of Craig Zadan and Neil Meron. "If ('Joyful Noise') does well, I wouldn't be surprised to see 'Damn Yankees' come together very fast."

Not sure if it means Jim still is attached to this after he signed "Burt Wonderstone". Jim will be busy with filming the next 4 months. I doubt Jim will do two movies this year because of his other projects.

Of all the projects he had going on the last couple of years, this is the one I'm hoping for! And I can't wait to hear who will be the leading lady ... still hoping for Winslet. But this 'Joyfull Noise' thing looks lame in every possible way.

Yes, He did especially well on that one
But focusing on Burt Wonderstone is pretty important

Wow, I had some serious doubts about him but now I'm sure ... Lose Todd Graff! I've seen some parts of 'Joyfull Noise' and it's a lot lika a bad TV-movie. It's getting smashed by the critics and public. 'Bandslam' wasn't very good either. The worse thing is the fact cast is talented, but that can't save the movie(s). I'm hoping that some talented director gets involved ... I can image some names that would be perfect. I would like to see Rob Marschall or Baz Luhrmann. Ofcours that's not going to happen.

Yea I think he will do one of the sequels there have been talk about instead. I can't remember Jim has talked much about this project in the media.
