I'm cooking a duck.

Here is where you discuss everything under the sun, just keep it clean.

My father was also a butcher. I love meat. I could very easily be voted "least likely to become a vegetarian."

I think it has a lot to do with where and how you were brought up..
If your family had hunters then you had no problem with eating animals and you learned how and why people eat certain animlas and not others.... if you were not brought up that way then you have other beliefs...to each is own..
I recall eating duck when I was younger but I forget if I liked it..
Quirky, isn't duck a little pricey?
I'm glad it came out good!

She's right, It's the Hunting Dog and Shotgun that's pricey. The duck is free.

Next time try it with plum sauce and wild rice.

I actually dumped a can of flat 7up on it while it baked.

How do you make plum sauce? Or do you buy it?

I was a vegetarian most of my life until I had my son.Now I do enjoy eating meat but I would prefer to raise what I eat and kill it myself. What you buy in a store you have no idea what hormones or whatever else is in it or if its death was well how do I say it inhuman. At least if you raise your own you know everything that it fed on and how it died.If anyone here likes duck you may enjoy rabbit. Its all white meat and higher in protien then turkey or salmon or red meat.It does not taste gamey if you buy it but does if you hunt it.Makes an incredible stew or pie.

I do not hunt and never would.I think if you are going to do that you should raise your animals for meat not gun them down in the woods not knowing if there are younger animals to be cared for that would be orphaned but thats just me.I request rabbit and duck from my butcher at the grocery store.Any grocery store can get it for you.I wish I had a home on some land so I could raise duck and rabbit but at this point its still a dream. There are breeds of rabbit bred specifically for meat.Do not go to a pet store for your supper please.I usually only eat meat once a month and when I do I like something with a lot of flavor that wont leave me feeling like I just consumed half a cow. That is why I started to try 'different' types of meat.Rabbit has an incredible flavor if you fry it with some bacon and garlic before stewing it with veggies.I usually add a bit of swiss chard to the stew its a nice combo.
