Was not meant to be.....
I was wondering want movies that has alreadly been made do you think Jim would have been good in,
i thought about these after i came across these, Jim was close to being cast in a movie called
" Hitchhicker's Guide to the Galaxy", i rented it when it came out, it was a good movie. but douglas adams who wrote the book, prior to his death was almost at a deal to have jay roach as the director, hugh laurie as arthur, and Jim Carrey as zaphod beeblebrox. Jim's character was to be the president of the galaxy who has planet earth destored so that a space highway can be made. his character was not the main character arthur was the main character but his character was very funny. sam rockwell got Jim's character, and in the bonus material in the dvd, sam rockwell jokes about the produces didn't have enough money to get Jim Carrey. so they got me instead.

I'm a huge 'Hitch Hikers Guide' fan. Read the books years back, have the TV series on DVD, loved the film (though a different interpretation each time); BUT, I don't think Jim should have been in it. I think the main characters should be lesser known actors. I think the 'brand' itself was big enough not to rely on big names. IMHO.
Johnny English? I'm sure he would have given it a good shot, but I don't know how well he'd do a bumbling Englishman. To his credit, Rowan Atkinson does have that corner of the market well covered! Lol.
I'd have liked to have seen him 'Lost in Translation'. And if they ever make an American version of 'Shaun of the Dead', he'd be great in Simon Pegg's role.

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory! I still think Johnny Depp would have been great as Faruka's Father. (She's my favorite, but I'm refering to the 70's character 'I want an oompa loompa now, Daddy') Some of the 2005 version creaped me out, I kept thinking somethings not right with Willy if you catch my drift. And I happen to think Johnny Depp is a great actor, but this version didn't sit well with me.

You know, I was kind of pissed that they remade it. The original wasn't THAT long ago and I remember it so fondly. I understand that Burton wanted to capture some of the dark side of Roald Dahl, but there are plenty of other things Roald Dahl wrote. I used to be addicted to his short stories...they were far more sinister.wonderbunny wrote:Charlie and the Chocolate Factory! I still think Johnny Depp would have been great as Faruka's Father.
