Jim Carrey’s Christmas Carol Preview Reviewed

The screening offered up about 10-15 minutes of completed footage from the upcoming movie (presumably the same footage that screened at the Cannes Film Festival a few weeks ago). The only difference was that our crew (along with the critics who were being shown the footage in New York and Los Angeles today) would get a peak of what audiences can expect when the film debuts in IMAX 3D in November. While there just wasn’t enough of the movie screened to accurately judge the movie as a whole, the few scenes shown to did show off just how technically impressive the movie will be.

Hi! There had been lots of new reviews for the film; Mixed reviews (good ones, very good ones, and not so good ones) but allways praising Carrey´s work.

Roger Ebert gives the film a favorable four stars and headlines it as "a supercharged Ebenezer Scrooge and a delightful visual experience."

"Disney's A Christmas Carol" by Robert Zemeckis (and Charles Dickens, of course) is an exhilarating visual experience and proves for the third time he's one of the few directors who knows what he's doing with 3-D. Y'know, they said A Series of Unfortunate Events was a little scary for kids too, and I can see why, but I don't think it's too scary. Hey, Jim says Evan likes it.

It seems that the final percentage for this movie on the Tomatometer over at Rotten Tomatoes is 55%.

According to RT, "Robert Zemeckis' 3-D animated take on the Dickens classic tries hard, but its dazzling special effects distract from an array of fine performances from Jim Carrey and Gary Oldman."

I guess you can say that not everybody is into the Christma spirit! Oh well, let's hope that audiences get into the spirit more!

i don't get it.......Disney have re-shuffled their big-wigs as a result of CC's Flop..........FLOP?????? .......they say they expect a $50 million loss........well perhaps if they'd released it 2 weeks later it might have had a better first week.........we'd barely had Halloween out of the way.....
and let's face it making ANY film for $175 million was bound to be risky.....geez you can build hospitals for that.....
i've not seen it yet, i'm saving it for December but i think it looks friggin amazing and Jim has made something to be rightfully proud of..........kids for years to come will associate him with a CC......the way Alistair Sim did!
ggrrrr.........it always makes me mad when they say things are a flop when they've barely been released...........
