Memorable Moment: Jim Carrey Hosting the U-Knows

On April 2nd 1984, Jim Carrey hosted the U-Know Awards (later renamed the CASBYS from a voting contest), a music awards show honoring some of the hottest acts in Canada. This event was held at the Royal York Hotel in Toronto, Ontario. The award show was created by David Marsden from the radio network CFNY, which is currently branded 102.1 The Edge in Toronto. The year’s awards show includes such notable acts as the group Men Without Hats (who received Video and Single of the Year Awards for their only hit The Safety Dance) and rocker Billy Idol. To this day, it remains as the only awards show Jim has ever hosted.
In this clip below, highlights of the show are shown including Jim Carrey doing some impressions during his hosting gig. Then Jim sat down for an interview telling us how he felt honored to host the show before showing off his jacket promoting his TV show "The Duck Factory".
