"The Bijou" is a go!
11 Oct 2000 S.A._JCFan and Tommy Pihl found on yesterday's edition of The Hollywood Reporter the so awaited confirmation that Jim Carrey will indeed star in "The Bijou" (a.k.a. "The Majestic"):
"Martin Landau and Allen Garfield have joined the cast of filmmaker Frank Darabont's "The Bijou" opposite Jim Carrey for Castle Rock Entertainment, Universal Pictures and Warner Bros.
The project is slated to begin shooting Feb. 15 in Los Angeles and Northern California.
Written by Darabont and Michael Sloane, "Bijou" stars Carrey as a blacklisted writer who loses his memory after a car accident and finds a new home in a small town, where he is mistaken for a soldier who died.
Landau plays the father of the man for whom Carrey is mistaken, and Garfield plays Carrey's literary agent.
Universal is expected to handle domestic distribution, with Warner Bros. taking on international distribution. Castle Rock is producing the film."
