Jim's crash costume from "The Majestic"

In May I was able to purchase the outfit Jim Carrey wore in The Majestic accident scenes at a Hollywood memorabilia auction. I got two shirts, the pants, belt, and the shoes. One of the shirts and the rest of the outfit are from the scene where James Whitmore finds Jim unconscious on the beach. The other shirt was worn when Jim and James walked into town together and went to the diner.

The pants have a nylon liner in them. I guess to make Jim more comfortable lying in wet sand. You wouldn't believe how much sand came pouring out of the pants when I got them!

Actually that photo was in the auctions too. I really wanted it but I could only afford to buy one thing. Almost every outfit Jim wore in The Majestic was sold.

It's really neat to examine the clothes up close. The shirts are dirtied almost exactly the same. The side of the collar that is flipped over is actually glued down on both shirts and a lot of the dirt is real sand that is glued on. The sand on the shoes is glued on too. There is also two-sided tape inside the lapels of the shirts to keep the shirts in place against his chest and tape inside the belt too.
