Yet another project for Jim Carrey!

Looks like someone's gonna be really busy next year. Yahoo! (Reuters) and Variety reports that Jim Carrey has signed on another project, "The Children of the Dust Bowl" from Miramax Films, which he will be producing (whoa!) and starring in. The film is based on historian Jerry Stanley's nonfiction book by the same title and will be set at the Arvin Federal Camp.

The film takes place around 1939 when a group of migrant laborers journey from Oklahoma to California to escape the dust storms. At that time, the children of the group didn't have an opportunity to learn or go to school. That is, until they met Leo Hart, a thoughtful high school superintendent who decides to help them out by building a schoolhouse, Weedpatch Camp.

Stanley, a former professor of history at California State Bakersfield, actually met Hart in 1975. Stanley was also ordered by his dean to interview Hart for the library's oral history archives, which would eventually serves as the basis for "Children of the Dustbowl." The book, described by Stanley as a "quintessentially American story, if just a little slice of it,'' was published in 1992, three years after Hart died.

No word on production or release dates yet.
