Sonic the Hedgehog 4 filming wraps
16 May 2026

Paramount’s Sonic the Hedgehog 4 has officially crossed the finish line on filming, and excitement is already building for the next chapter in the hit video game franchise. Director Jeff Fowler shared the news with fans on social media, confirming that cameras have stopped rolling on the highly anticipated sequel.

Fowler, who has directed all of the Sonic movies so far, celebrated the milestone by teasing that the upcoming adventure could be the strongest entry yet. In his post, he thanked the cast and crew for their work and promised fans an unforgettable ride when the movie races into theaters on March 19, 2027.

The filmmaker also posted a fun behind-the-scenes image featuring a puppet version of Metal Sonic — the dark robotic counterpart to Sonic that longtime fans were thrilled to see teased during the ending of Sonic the Hedgehog 3. The villain’s appearance hints that the stakes may be even bigger this time around.

With plot details still under wraps, one thing fans can definitely look forward to is the return of Jim Carrey as the unforgettable Dr. Robotnik. Jim Carrey’s over-the-top energy and hilarious performance have become a major part of the franchise’s success, and fans are eager to see what chaos the mad scientist brings to Sonic the Hedgehog 4.

Adding even more momentum, Paramount has already scheduled another untitled Sonic movie for release in late 2028, showing that the blue blur’s cinematic universe is far from slowing down.
