I think it shows that he cares about her and her future....
Even if they did spit up, the foundation would continue, she would at least still have a job and work at

it's natural he wants to give them a secure future if anything happens to him....he'll be insured up to the nostrils, and let's face it, what's it for if not to provide for those you love?........
